Frequently Asked Questions

These are some of the questions that I get asked the most by clients and prospective clients. Hopefully you find this section informative, relieving, and entertaining.

How long have you been a massage therapist? Do you enjoy it?

I have been a practicing & licensed massage therapist since September 2012. As of writing this, that's over 13 years! I could never do something for this long if I didn't feel great about it. Massage therapy was a surprising career choice when I first made it, but it's been the perfect career for me.

Do you accept insurance?

No, at this time, I am not accepting any forms of insurance as payment. I accept cash, debit/credit cards, Venmo, CashApp, Apple Pay, PayPal, and gift cards.

How did you get into massage therapy?

During a time when I was lacking direction, I was led to massage through a series of events loosely related to my discovery of astrology. I was fascinated when I read the suggestion to massage the crown & scalp of a person born under the sign of Aries, since they are prone to carry tension there. Whether or not you believe in astrology, this little spark led me to a hearth of healing work and purpose.

Should I shower right before my appointment?

You don't need to shower immediately before your appointment. However, coming to your appointment with a relatively clean and exfoliated body and little to no fragrance is courteous to your massage therapist and the other clients who will be treated that day. There is a good chance you will get oil in your hair, so you may want to save the hair wash until after your massage. :)

Is it "massage therapist" or "masseuse?"

These days, licensed massage therapists prefer to be called just that: licensed massage therapist or massage therapist. The title of "therapist" helps to further legitimize the healing & preventative physiological effects of massage therapy.

Should I take off my underwear/bra/clothing?

I tell everyone the same thing: some people take their underwear off, some people leave their underwear on. Most people do take off the rest of their clothing for massage therapy, though I can modify the treatment for people who wish to remain fully or partially clothed. I will always keep my clients modest, warm, and above all SAFE. If you have more questions about what to expect, please check out my Massage 101 blog post or reach out to me.
